From an early age Simon’s flair for illustration was reflected in his studies at school. Simon spent a year at Art college, and always wanting to be different, enrolled to study for a degree in Engineering at Southampton University. Simon painted semi-professionally from 1985, and became a freelance artist/illusrator in 1993.

During the 90's Simon became widely known for work with a motor racing theme, and his limited edition prints featuring Formula 1 subjects sold worldwide, and he exhibited motor racing themed work at various shows including the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival meetings. Simon has produced works for David Coulthard, Gerhard Berger, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Alain Prost, Stirling Moss, Kimi Raikkonen, Heikki Kovalainen, Frank Williams, the Sultan of Brunei, Asprey of Bond Street, rally champions Marcus Gronholm, Juha Kankunnen and Tommi Makinen, and The Ayrton Senna Foundation amongst many others.

Aside from this, he continued working to commission, painting portraits and works with broad subject matter from ballet dancers, animals, still life, and landscapes. In tghe early 2000’s, Simon also developed a contemporary painting style blending a fusion of colours and light with dynamic line work, to release himself from the restriction of his representational work.
